About Prebiotics and Probiotics

Edible nuts are prebiotics by themselves because of their content in micro and macronutrients, (fibre, calcium, etc) and, this fact, makes them good for the human intestinal microbiota.

The purpose of adding probiotics to our nuts is to help the human microbiota to be healthy. In that way we are creating a symbiotic food because it is a prebiotic by itself and we are making them probiotics too, by adding healthy bacteria.

It must be classified as GRAS/QPS (GRAS-Generally Recognized As Safe- FDA /QPS -Qualified Presumption of Safety- EFSA), it must resist the gastric digestion, have the natural capacity to adhere to the gut epithelium and to inhibit intestinal pathogens. 

Probiotics help the digestion and therefore the bioavailability of the nutrients. They also avoid the growth of intestinal pathogens and help to produce energy for the body, among other benefits.

About Go Nuts

We have created global innovation because we have enriched the nuts with their own natural probiotic. These type of strains don’t exist in high quantities in nuts and they cannot be found regularly. In Go Nuts we have incremented that quantity 8 to 9 logarithmic units.

In 50 grs. of Go Nuts you will find the recommended dose by the EFSA, 8.000- 10.000 millions of bacteria (108-109 ufc/50g). There is no maximum dose over what you can have a health problem.

Absolutely! No differences were found in the organoleptic test between nuts with and without probiotics. Once the blind tasting was over, when it was mentioned that it was a product with probiotics, there was no rejection. It turned out to be a boost to the benefits already provided by nuts.

About differences with probiotic drugs in the market

The biggest difference is that when you take a pill you only have the probiotic effect and when you eat Go Nuts you have the effect of the added probiotic plus the prebiotic effect of nuts (the prebiotic effect of the nuts is due to the content of fiber, non- saturated fatty acids, calcium etc).

About other foodstuffs and their probiotics content

Our probiotics can be found in other foodstuffs but in very low quantities. Go Nuts probiotics are quite specific to certain environments. We did deep research among the microorganisms we first found in our nuts in order to find those that had probiotic potential; and later on, we made them grow in a substantial dose in order to put them back into the nuts.
The difference with fermented food is that it has many bacteria aimed at carrying out the fermentative process, but not all those bacteria are probiotic.

Go Nuts is the first development of nut-originating probiotic strains.

The probiotic cocktail in Go Nuts combines strains from Pediococcus and Lactobacillus. These two species are very well-known probiotics and they are bacteria naturally present in the human gut.

Yes. Our probiotic product can clearly be declared as vegan because our bacteria does not come from an animal source (dairy, or “human source”) and even the growing media does not contain compounds from animal origin.

Our product doesn’t have any trace of other allergens because it comes purely from nuts. In the extraction of the microorganisms these allergens disappeared.
